I just got the latest gopher from boombox.micro.umn.edu: ftp://boombox.micro.umn.edu/pub/gopher/Unix/gopher2_1_1.tar.Z today and except for the makefiles not being compatible with FreeBSD's make and a change in definition for sys_errlist, I had no trouble. If you and I are working with the same source code I might be able to help. It looks to me like it cannot find the gopher library. Did you try making the library manually by running make in the objects directory?
