When I toggled to the boot/install error messages the last 2 msgs that appear are : "mount_cd9660: device not configured" "ERROR <Unable to mount /dev/cd0a on /mnt>" I think the problem may be hardware incompatibility but I'm not sure. The Freebsd faqs that I read under Section 2.2, " What SCSI controllers are supported", identify the Adaptec AH-152x Series <ISA> as being supported. Well here's the MONKEY WRENCH, I'm using an Adaptec AMM-1570 SCSI Audio Host Adapter (aka Audio Multimedia Machine). I checked with Adaptec prior to installing Freebsd 2.0 regarding the the SCSI functionality and internal identity of the card. Adaptec's phone support tech told me that this card is basically the AHA-1522 adapter card and it uses a 6360 chip. The card also has built-in sound support that is integrated with Microsof't's Sound System 2.0. When I installed the AMM-1570 card I had to change a few jumpers on the card, one of the changes altered the port address, it was changed from 0x330 to 0x140 and it has an IRQ of 11.( I don't kown if that has any impact, thought I'd just mention it any way.) The Freebsd "Troubleshooting Tips" suggest that hardware conflicts or misconfigurations can occur because of IRQ or addressing conflicts. The suggested solution is to at boot-time TYPE "/kernel -c. This will put you into a dynamic kernel configuratin utility and that you can modify some properties related to device configuration. Well, I AM LOST, at this point to say the least. Has anyone experience the same? I,m open to any and all suggestions. System Configuration: generic PC 486DX2/66 8 mb memory 2 IDE Hard drives, a 203mb Maxtor and 125mb Seagate CDROM NEC 4xi Tape Drive (QIC Conner 2525s) IDE controller card (supports 2 hard drives and 2 floppies) Sound/SCSI controller - Adaptec AMM-1570 The SCSI card also supports a tape drive (a Conner 2525s). Thanks in Advance. Mike Klaman
