Not to my ears.  "Open" is exclusively used as marketing smoke in the
commercial world, so for me, when I see "Open", I always mentally append
". . . NOT!"

Also, consider the *advantages* of two independent groups.  I consider
it a luxury to have two independent solutions to learn from.
