I've been working at a site with Gateway 2000's with the model number "486VLB-33" or something. If you open them up you'll see the same case, same model number, same monitor, and two completely different motherboards. The exact motherboard that Joerg refers to is the Micronic's Gemini 486VL. I'm not sure if this problem is a reason to avoid GW2000 - I've been running 386bsd since the early days and the problem was only around in 2.0.
