It's even more interesting than that: there is an IBM manager on record
stating publicly at a conference that his job was to make sure that the
documentation of IBM sw products (in his case, OS/2, BTW) was incomplete
and obscure enough that third parties would have difficulty supporting
it and thus competing with IBM in selling sw support services to IBM
customers. It's reported in a recent issue of PC Magazine.
