yeah, yeah, yeah... we've all heard that before.

this is the kind of idiocy that comes from wannabe kernel hackers that
surround themselves with BSD. i've worked on commercial *IX kernels well
over a decade professionally, have written my own TCP/IP, have written
my own realtime OS that can be cross developed from UNIX. and yeah,
i run and hack on both linux and netBSD for toying around with gadgets
at home. both are fine systems. however, in terms of pure magnitude
and value of raw lines of new, fresh code being written, linux is the
king. you wanna be a kernel hacker? go write the damn thing from
scratch. you wanna be a stupid
"i-used-unix-before-you-did-and-bsd-is-cool-linux-is-for-dorks" bigot,
keep regurgitating the same already-been-there-done-that code code in
BSD. BSD is the real thing; i love it, i know it better than linux,
and it feels like i'm home when hacking on it. but reading linux code
is a pleasure (except some drivers), and mind-boggling experience... what a
supreme hack! you think you can do better? go ahead! do you think
it's so easy to write free software on your own time and achieve the
quality linux has? i'm not that arrogant -- it's taking me forever to
release the multi-architecture version of my realtime OS. why?
because i have to make a living writing code for real customers.

Linux = "lets write UNIX from scratch and make it run everything"
BSDI = "lets enhance UNIX we've written and sell it to buy bread"
*BSD = "lets form core groups and fight amongst ourselves for
control while regurgitating old code done by other people."
