I'm currently installing FreeBSD in favour of Linux. There is a point
in the installation where I can install various bits and pieces including
XFree 3.1. Everything goes smoothly until I try to install XFree 3.1.

The message 'checking checksums', or something like that, appears followed
by an 'Extracting. Please wait'. And wait I do. Nothing happens even
after an hour passes. No disc activity no nothing. I can cancel the
installation with a Control C.

I am installing from the Walnut Creek CD ROM and have created a partition
/usr/X11R6 with 50 Mbs using the device labeling procedure.

Whats going on? Can I install XFree3.1 if I now log in as 'root' and
just run the 'extract.sh' shell or do I need to start again and change
some partition sizes.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
