Date: 30 Jan 1995 23:20:23 -0800 Lines: 19 Message-ID: <3gkobn$ffh@cruella.ee.pdx.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: cruella.ee.pdx.edu Summary: I need to get a prompt from the boot floppy to access image. Keywords: image upgrade startdisk FreeBSD X-Newsreader: NN version 6.4.19 #2 How can I get a prompt on the new FreeBSD-2.0 boot floppy? I downloaded it from the cdrom.com site. It runs nicely, but I couldn't figure how to break out of the menu system. What I need is just the 2.0 image file and to copy it on my FreeBSD 1.0 hard disk installation so that I can start using the Adaptec AHA-1522A SCSI host adapter. I tried downloading the new sources, but it wouldn't compile. Probably I'll need more new files for that. I started downloading the new bindist files, but so far it appears to have no boot image file. I _WILL_ buy the new CD, but want to make backups first, with my new (oh, well, 2nd hand) tape drive, but can't use the SCSI adapter under version 1.0. (Chicken/Egg problem) Alternatively, where can I find a copy of the boot image? Thanks, Roland rolandkwee@acm.org
