And there you have a wonderful Job Concept. Yes, except for the fact that using that 'real' print model you're forced to buy an additional user licence for every printer. If you have ninety people and 15 printers on your network, you have to buy a 250 user licence rather than a 100 user licence to get everyone and everything connected if each printer acts as its own server. The price difference between a 250 user and a 100 user version is quite significant. If you have anything other than the printer itself (or the interface device, e.g., an Intel NetPort) you're back to using rprinter with its timeouts, and there goes your Wonderful Job Concept. Quite frankly, lpr strikes me as a much more wondeful concept. The idea that I should have to log into a specific server just to use a particlar printer is a pain. Being a small site, I could attach all 40 printers to each server, but what if I had 200 printers? cjs -- Curt Sampson a09878@giant.rsoft.bc.ca Opinions are mine, Fluor Daniel Wright, Ltd. 604 488 2226 not Fluor Daniel's. 1075 W.
