I've read the FAQ and gone through the mail archives, and just wanted
to clarify a few points (and get some info/opinions) before I go ahead
and buy a Pentium system:

o Only FreeBSD has support for the PCI AHA-2940, and then only in a
working code snapshot. If I take the boot image from
  freebsd.cdrom.com:/.11/FreeBSD/2.0-950112-SNAP/294x_boot_144.flp.gz,
I should have no problems. When NetBSD has support for this
card (if it doesn't already), will I still be able to do DMA
above 16 Megs with the PCI bus (I assume that this is just standard
  on a PCI bus?)

What protocols can you buy 2940's for (SCSI, SCSI-2, etc...)?
What is the advantage/disadvantage of the newer SCSI protocols
over the old? Will old devices work with the newer SCSI's?
Will all of these boards work under FreeBSD?

o The ATI Mach64 Graphics Pro Turbo w/4M is supported by
  FreeBSD/NetBSD/XFree86 at 1280x1024 w/ 16.7 million colors on the
  PCI bus, correct?

Thanks a lot! I'm really looking forward to having this BSD machine
at home, I just want to make sure it's going to work.
