I recently bought a Seagate 1GB drive, and was very slightly concerned due to some problems with their drives in the past. I was going to buy a Micropolis drive but they have compatibility problems with the SCSI card I was getting (Adaptec 2842), so I went with the Seagate. The salesman admitted that yes, there were some problems with Seagate's drives in the past, but that they hadn't heard of any problems recently (mind you, this just proves he's a good salesman 8-). Anyway, I expressed my concern to someone who deals with and supports machines with SCSI drives, and he said that he'd had three drives go bad from the same batch a while ago, but had had absolutely no problems with Seagate drives since.. So, I'm fairly confident my drive isn't suddenly going to die..
