That would certainly make the  test  more  convincing,  however  a
large part of the thread is comparing BSD/Linux/ etc.

Agreed, however I get  modestly  varying  results  on  my  (sadly)
single   tasker   and   the  degree  of  thrashing-or-not  can  be
significant, particularly for a server.  How  well  do  the  R/U/T
times   compare  between  implementations?   (Rhetorical  --  just
reiterating the caveat)

Never investigated that but I surely wouldn't bet *against* you on
it :-)
