If you'd read the spec's on the large Seagate drives and do your homework to
find out that you need more cooling,  and added a second fan, then you wouldn't
be going through drives.  They >DO< die if they do not have ample cooling.  In all
20 of our machines using the 12450, they NEEDED a second fan.  This is in addition
to big fans in the power supply's (PC Power and cooling twin power units), a 5.25"
fan blowing into the expansion card area, and a little fan on the P54's heatsink.  
These are also in LARGE cases, with a empty drive bay above and below the 
Seagates.  I assume the 1gig drives are the same, as we are currently upgrading
to the 4gig units, and they too, need lots of cooling.
