XFree 86 3.1 as widely distributed does NOT have S3 764 support/detection
for the #9GXE TRIO PCI video card.

version 3.1.1 released in the last couple of days does.

ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/ for a list of mirrors. Keep trying until you find
one that has it. Stick to your continent and the d/l will be much quicker.

(although the S3 X Server doesn't like my PS/2 mouse on my NetBSD 1.0 system.
it responds to movement, just responds incorrectly (it sits in the corner
of the screen and everytime I move it, it thinks I've pressed a button so
keeps bringin up/taking off the twm menu) -- If anyone knows the way around
this, please let me know.)
