FreeBSD 2.0R boot floppy PANICs Dell 486P/50 Date: 6 Feb 1995 17:37:46 -0600 Organization: MCSnet, Chicago Area Public Internet Access Lines: 29 Message-ID: <3h6bsa$k66@Mars.mcs.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: mars.mcs.com Hi - I'm having a problem booting a Dell 486P/50 (486DX2/50) w/16MB memory, Adaptec 1542CF (IRQ 11, DMA 5), Quantum LPS525S SCSI disk (501MB) and 3COM 3C509 (EtherLink III) from the FreeBSD 2.0R (941204) boot floppy. It sees all the devices, but after the "Changing root device to fd0c" message, it craps out with: Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode fault virtual addr = 0x7 fault code = supervisor read, page not present intruction pointer = 0x8:0xf0107560 Code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1 Proc eflags = int enabled, resume, IOPL = 0 Current proc = 0 () int mask = net tty bio panic: page fault We tried turning off ROM and video BIOS shadow and caching, and disabled the on-board IDE controller from inside the BIOS... no luck. Do the above messages point to anything in particular? Any help would be appreciated.
