Communications Corp., Langley, BC, Canada Lines: 27 Message-ID: <3hj9a8$jjt@deep.rsoft.bc.ca> NNTP-Posting-Host: giant.mindlink.net I think we need to add a section describing how to set up a SLIP link to FTP the bin NetBSD 1.0 distribution to the INSTALL file. I seem unable to do so. I managed to dig up the format of the remote file for tip (which is included on the install disks) from my old 4.2BSD manual, but I can't get tip to do anything but dump core. Using stty and cat I managed to connect to my SLIP provider and get logged in. I then did an slattach -1200 /dev/tty00 ifconfig sl0 204.174.31.53 204.174.16.4 route add 0.0.0.0 204.174.16.4 (yes it was a 1200 bps connection--don't even bother to ask why :-)) and tried to ping the host I was attached to. The modem TX light flashed once per second, so the packet seemed to be going out, but I was getting nothing back. Any thoughts on this? I'd even settle just for thoughts on how to get tip working; using cat as a terminal program is a bit awkward. cjs -- Curt Sampson a09878@giant.rsoft.bc.ca Opinions are mine, Fluor Daniel Wright, Ltd. 604 488 2226 not Fluor Daniel's. 1075 W.
