Has anybody had any experiences in using the Exabyte EXB8505-XLE tape drive under any version of FreeBSD? I would particularly like to know if it is properly supported as a 5Gb (raw) drive rather than operating as a 2.3Gb drive (the EXB8205-XLE). I have a 486DX50/EISA with an Adaptec 1742A controller, 16MB RAM, 1GB disk, Cirrus Logic 5428 video (VLB) and currently run FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 - I'll be adding another 2Gb disk soon as well as increasing the RAM to 40MB and think that it's high time that I got a semi-decent tape drive to back the system up. I'll also be using the tape drive to backup 2 Sun SPARCstation LX systems via NFS and am really going to need the capacity that the 8505 offers. A speedy reply would be greatly appreciated as I have to get the ball rolling to buy the drive this week. Best regards, Sean.
