It has been working for me for ages (in 1.1.5 and now 2.0) without any
problems.  By SHMEM, I assume you have "options SYSVSHM" in your
kernel config file, right?

Are you using mpeg_play from ports and the XFree86-3.1 (or 3.1.1) in
the regular FreeBSD sites?
