(FreeBSD 2.0) Date: 28 Feb 1995 11:34:01 -0800 Organization: University of California, Santa Barbara Lines: 35 Message-ID: <3ivtr9$8bd@pluto.ucsb.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: pluto.cs.ucsb.edu Ok, here are the problems I have encountered since I have been using FreeBSD 2.0 lately. 1. The package XV doesn't load because it gets an error when looking for the file "libjpeg...". Why can't these packages ever work by themselves??? 2. I loaded KERMIT (from the incoming directory...the 'good' version) and after making about 5 links to the new lib files (why do I have to do this, if it has been compiled on FreeBSD 2.0???!?!) it still gives me "segmentation fault" when I attempt to do anything! What the hell is wrong?? 3. My "ifconfig" program doesn't seem to be working as well. It gives me a strange error when I run the same command on it as I did in version 1.1.5!?! There should not be a bug like that... 4. I got the package "FVWM" but it doesn't come with all the modules that it says it does. Where did they go!? Why didn't the person add them??? 5. I got the package "Seyon" and it says it comes with example files (startup, phonelist, etc..) but they aren't anywhere in the tar file! Where did THEY go now?!?! Why is it that so many of these packages are out there, but they don't have everything or aren't completely working, or whatever!? Can anyone help me on any of these problems?! Thanks so much, and I'm sorry to sound like I've only got problems. FreeBSD is a great system, and I'm very thankful to be able to get it free. :) Thanks, John
