Just for comparison, here in Greensboro, NC, I have basic service on my
computer line, which costs *EXACTLY* $20 per month and stay slipped up
24hours a day, 7 days a week (minus an occasional reboot).

Its obvious that our local bell does indeed have a "true" flat rate service.
I remember, tho, a long time ago when I lived in Connecticut, that if you
made over X number of local calls a month, they charged a few pennies for each
one (found that out when I wrote a program to call all the local numbers and
find modems ....). <sigh> *Big* phone bill.
