So I go to look for the log file to see what happened and there is nothing there...I try playing around with syslog.conf file and then look at the 'ps' list to see what syslogd's pid is. Well low it is not running. I was wondering if some helpful soul will tell me why when I try to start up syslogd I get the error "syslogd: bind: Can't assign requested addresses" I have tried changing the ownership on /dev/klog to daemon and the group as well. If I touch /dev/log it is gone once syslogd has been run but I get the same error. (I also got this error with timed but I currently have it shut off and figure if I solve this problem I will solve the other) Thanks a lot, Simon -- -- Pray to Dis.
