Neither one is 'better' to be completely honest. In the same way that
both a Camero and a Mustang are both good cars (they are both fast,
sexy, perform well, have some quirks that are sometimes annoying) the
best way to compare them is to find out what people you know are
running. That way when something doesn't make sense, you can go find
your 'Chevy/FreeBSD' or your 'Ford/Linux' mechanic to come help you.

If you've got both folks around, then ask them what they think. If you
don't have anyone at all around, pick one of the two (FreeBSD! :-) and
try it out for a couple weeks. If it doesn't work, switch to the other.
The advantage you have is that running either one doesn't cost you
anything but your time. Unfortunately neither Chevy nor Ford will give
you that kind of a deal. :)

You shouldn't have *any* problems running FreeBSD on that hardware.
