I am considering purchasing a 28.8 modem. Currently I am using a 16550
UART with my 14.4 modem (talking to the modem at 38.4K) and getting
occassional silo overflows with ppp. Since I'll probably want to run the
28.8 modem at least 56K, I'm wondering what I can do to prevent silo
overflows.

Should I change the FIFO trigger level of my 16550? (I'm not clear on
whether you can do that.) What serial card are people out there using
with high-speed modems? Looking through the documentation on the various
supported cards (I'm running 2.0) I was disappointed to see that most of
them topped out at 38.4K.
