Date: 8 May 1995 19:36:24 +0200 Organization: The Home Of The Pilhuhn Lines: 46 Message-ID: <3olkqo$eov@pilhuhn.pilhuhn.de> NNTP-Posting-Host: pilhuhn.de Hi all! Yesterday I got a Soundblaster 16 Value Edition pretty cheap, so I went to install it. There's no sound.doc in 2.0R, so I looked at the LINT kernel, and the 1.1R sound.doc. Here's, what I did: Kernel config: options "ALLOW_CONFLICT_IRQ" device snd2 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 vector sbintr device snd6 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 5 vector sbintr device snd1 at isa? port 0x388 rebuild, reboot, the devices are probed and recognised correctly. # cd /dev # sh MAKEDEV snd0 # cat something.au >/dev/audio nothing happens ??? Now I'm stuck. Any help appreciated. BTW: Creatix is a great example for DOS weenies unable to even think of someone using their products whith some other OS :-( I wanted to run DIAGNOSE.EXE as stated in the manual (I do read manuals ;-) On the disk there was only some INSTALL.EXE and a lot of archive files in some unknown format. OK, start INSTALL to unpack the diagnose utility to some floppy. (I don't have a DOS partition!). Well, it complains, there's no disk with enough free space for all the great software. Fine, go to a friend running Windoze to unpack the software. Now the INSTALL.EXE complains it doesn't find a Soundblaster board ****ARRRGH!****. Thanks in advance, Paddy -- Patrick M.
