Thanks to everyone who replied to me concerning my problems with my
3com 3c509 ethernet card.  I grabbed the newer version of the driver
from -current and found that some of the paths had changed.  Before
I got a chance to hack it up so it would work with 1.0, another poster
said his problems went away when he made a custom kernel with just
the needed devices.  I did that and was pleased to find that my problems
have gone away.  At my leisure (hah!) I plan to incorporate the -current
patches, just to be sure.
