I exit the program using ^C. I am running the minimal installation, using the files: x311bin.tgz x311svga.tgz x311fnts.tgz x311lib.tgz x311xdcf.tgz x311xicf.tgz which I unpacked on /usr/X11R6. I think I set umask to 022. I did execute the command "ldconfig /usr/X11R6/bin" with the rest of the paths as given. I did not run the xdcf or xicf thingies (don't know how: I've used X-windows, but never succeeded in installing it!). I did not add an entry to ttys. When I try to test xdm from root, I get these weird results. Any help appreciated. TIA --
