Everything SEEMS to be correct but it doesn't work. Pentium is connected to the Internet via ppp, which works great. I486 is connected to pentium via ethernet (3Com), works great too. I486 doesn't seem to want to work with the Internet. DNS to worldly sites works from i486 just fine. Telnet or FTP from i486 connects, but the connection times out. I can rlogin from i486 to pentium then out to the Internet just fine. All the parts seem to work fine, but I can't seem to figure this out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information to provide adequate reply, please ask. Thank you in advance! dave Just wanted to add that FreeBSD is about the best thing I could ever have stumbled across. FreeBSD 2.0 was released as I got the UNIX bug and I have been astounded by its quality ever since. The school I attend (CAD Institute in PHX, AZ) is teaching UNIX and have turned some of the students on to FreeBSD. Keep up the great work and thank you for everything! (I don't think I would have done nearly as well learning UNIX with Linux (personal obs, not trying to start something <grin>) -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- srg __ __ ____ ___ ___ ____ srg@primenet.com /__)/__) / / / / /_ /\ / /_ / / / \ / / / / /__ / \/ /___ / ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
