Well, I'm using the NCR and an "ed" type Ethernet card 
on my system. In fact this was the development environment
of the NCR driver ...

I'm running FreeBSD, not NetBSD, but I don't think this
makes too much of a difference, since the NCR driver is
compiled from the same source file in both, and I don't
think the ed driver differs that much.

Not necessarily. Looks more like an interrupt configuration
problem to me !

DOS and Windows don't make much use of interrupts ...

Well, its works fine for me. I'm sure somebody got the 
NCR and ed drivers working under NetBSD.

Could you please send the boot mesage log and some 
information on your system configuration ?

Yes. This used to be true, when the software interface 
was open and everybody could write drivers for them.
But with their current attitude this isn't true for free
OS anymore.

And there are much cheaper alternatives (and the NCR is
the best, IMHO).
