USA Lines: 28 Message-ID: <3prjh7$o0r@news.acns.nwu.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: lucky156.acns.nwu.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.92.3 I've already emailed freebsd tech support, but I know they're busy, so here goes... I go through sysinstall, define my partitions and mountpoints, and then hit "proceed". newfs is invoked, and then promptly repeats the following error message: wd0a: wdstart: timeout waiting to give command writing fsbn 1008 of 1008-1023 (wd0 bn 210672. cn 52 tn 16 sn 0) wd0: status 0 error 1 <no_dam> I noticed that when I first boot from the boot floppy, I also get this message... wd0: cant handle 64 heads from partition table (controller value 16 restored) The machine is 100MHz Pentium, 1GB Western Digital Disk, with OS/2 and DOS/WINDOWS already installed. Is this similar to the problem with newfs mentioned in the troubleshooting section, meaning I have to wait for the next release? or am I doing something else wrong? any help will be greatly appreciated.... ken Kenneth L.
