: Hello,
: I bought freeBSD 2.0 form Walnut Creek and it works fine, but
: I have some questions.
: I have a 486/66 vesa local bus with 1 Gb HD, 16 Mb ram and a 4
: speed Mitsumi CD with its own card.
: 1) Why FreeBSD doesn't recognise my CD ?
i think this is a IDE/ATAPI CDROM - which will be supported (as far as i
know) in the next release (2.0.5) which will come out in the next days
: 2) in XFree86 how can you set the "click and paste" feature for
: the mouse ?
maybe you only have an 2 button mouse (or a threebutton mouse in 2 button
mode) - then you have to enable the Emulate3Buttons option - look into the
man-page for XF86Config or you have to try various other mouse settings
(mouse systems is one with 3 buttons) but some of the 2/3 button mouses (...
the "hold the lft button while booting to get the 3 button mode" mouses ...)
you can't get into a 3 button mode (... ok you may hold the button at every
boot ... :-) but some you can using the ClearDTR and Clear... options in
XF86Config - again look into the man-page of XF86Config
: 4) On the cover of the box the date is January 1995 but on the CD
: it is January 1994 ?
it's a typo
: 5) How can you use the Xfree fonts ( and there is a lot ) with
: ghostscript ?
you may only use PS fonts for ghostscript (i.e. the ones in the Type1 dir
... and that are not so many)
: 7) Does FreeBSD support a king of multithreading ?
i think the pthreads package (user lever threads) is working with FreeBSD
with some minor changes
sipb.mit.edu:/pub/pthreads
or
toxicwaste:/pub/archive/pthreads
and contact dayton@robeson.sci.brooklyn.cuny.edu (Dayton Clark) for the
patches
hope this helps - t
