I noticed a problem with -current which may actually be my fault but I'm
unsure.

I have the 0412 snap installed and I upgraded to the current kernel by
replacing just the /usr/src/sys tree and compiling it. This kernel
complains 'rejecting partition in BSD label: it isn't entirely within the
slice' at boot and whenever a filesystem is mounted, but the system uses
the filesystem without any problems. However, fdisk and disklabel do not
work.

Is this a real problem or am I suffering from version skew between the
kernel and other utilities?
