Yes: the output from netstat -in and netstat -rn from both machines.
It might also be a problem with DNS lookups for your I486 machine (in
particular, with reverse lookups).

Thank'ya for the flowers. If you're already impressed about the
quality of 2.0 (which is admittedly rather buggy), the upcoming 2.0.5
will certainly fully satisfy you.
