during the install procees of X11 FreeBSD switch to the ALT-F2 screen
to ask you many questions. Thats why it the installtion stops on the ALT-F1
screen. Try switching back and forth between ALT-F1 and ALT-F2.

As far as I can remember there is no password for su. but I think that you
have to belong to the wheel group to be able to use su.
I've added my login name for the wheel group in /etc/group file
and now it works fine.
