(I actually tried the installation on both machines, and both exhibited the same problem.) On boot up, NetBSD refused to recognize the 3c509 at all. However, the Linux boot disk had no such problem. Here's the weird part: After halting from the Linux boot, NetBSD recognized the 3c509, and everything works peachy keen. Unfortunately, any time I have to reboot the system, I first have to boot off the Linux disk, and then reboot off the hard drive. Maybe this belongs in alt.hackers... -Benn-
