I have a FreeBSD machine running 2.0-RELEASE. The machine stopped accepting
telnet connections and had many processes stuck in "D" (under ps -auxw)
disk wait mode. What would cause the normal system programs (i.e. pagedaemon)
to get stuck in this mode and never come out? Is this a known problem in
2.0 RELEASE that has since been fixed, has anybody had this happen to them?

The machine allowed you to telnet and then after you entered your username
and password just sat there. You could see syslog messages and stuff but the
shell would put itself into Disk Wait mode and not work. All the drives
appeared to be functioning. The machine had to be rebooted to work properly
again.

Please send any replies to pete@tiac.net.

Thanks,
