Which FreeBSD version did you try?  The 2.0.5 installation program is
much improved over the old 2.0 one (and even the SNAP version are
better), so you could perhaps give it a try?  There are even
internationalized versions for several help files now, but hey, you
happen to speak english anyway...

Have a look at the FAQ and other documentation in http://www.freebsd.org.
This is not to say it's already complete yet, but there might be much more
interesting for you than you've already seen yet.
