It helped me. : Are you sure you didn't reverse this sentence? Dot-style-locking : requires write access to the directory. Hi ! Yes ,it requires write permissions to the directory /tmp - elm creates there files named mbox.<user_name> , but it changes nothing in /var/mail. But it is possible that i'm wrong - You can find a set of permission in /var/mail , which lets You to run elm - i'm beginner in FBSD, i tried to set them right - i couldn't find them - so i recompiled elm with dot - style locking and it helped.
