It's hard for me to believe that my beliefs as someone who just happens to use FreeBSD has anything to do with why anyone uses Linux. If you base your choice of OSes on whether or not you've ever met someone you didn't like who runs the system, you'd better sell your computer. : There is no reason at all why installing Unix should be particularly difficult. : It's not meant to be an obstacle race. The FreeBSD has never been particularly difficult. You had to read the documentation though. I guess if you're not willing to do that it probably does seem difficult. : You sound to me like one of those people : who thinks if they make something sound complicated enough : everyone will think they must be terribly clever. I don't think reading the file named README before I run the install makes me particularly clever. I do know what I think of people who don't bother, and I will admit the word "clever" doesn't come to mind. : The Linux Installation Guide makes starting and running Linux a pleasure. : I didn't find it any more difficult than installing Windows. ... : I'm all in favour of healthy rivalry between Free Unixes. : That is why I hope FreeBSD will put together some decent documentation. Calling the current docs less than descent is just plain silly. Your problem with them is apparenly that you had to look at them before you ran the install. <shrug> -- ======================================================================== Donald Alan Whiteside School of Computer Science Official Usenet Dork for the week of Jan 9-13, 1995 GCS d-- -p+(---) l u+(-) e+ m+ s !n h f g+ w+ t+(++) r- y++ "I timed it.
