I've got the latest version of sendmail, 8.6.12?, too and given the choice would gladly run it but I'm trying to set up a box to get mail via UUCP and without the "bat book" this task looks impossible to me. I've already set up smail to handle the mail via UUCP. If you've got a sendmail.cf that won't require too much hacking to understand uucp that will get the job done too. I've already got the uucpproto.cf that comes with sendmail-8.6.12 and it does not fit the bill. I'm not interested in starting a sendmail vs smail flame war here I just want to get mail comming into my girlfriends mailbox on this machine. A working smail or a working sendmail + uucp configuration does the job. C. P.S. According the smail the permissions on /var/mail should be 1777 bin bin. That fixed the problem, again, am I making my situation worse by doing that? -- Christopher Sean Hilton E-mail: chilton@mcs.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ICBM address: | "Thus it is said if you know them and know 42 07 39 N/87 49 44 W | yourself, your victory will not be imperiled.
