It's a kernel pseudo-device.  Refer the FAQ on how to reconfigure and
rebuild a new kernel.

Be warned that PPP has been left out by intention from the generic
2.0R kernels since it's said to be broken.  It may or may not work for
you, but don't be too surprised if it's panicking.
