Okay, I have figured out why I could not boot.  I have to have the entire
wd0a within the reach of the BIOS(under first 504MB(?)).  I now have a
partition that resides entirely under the limit, and another partition
that stores /usr.  This was stated in the FAQ, sorry about the ignorance.
However, but I do remember I had only one partition that goes beyond the
reach of the BIOS, and worked fine for 2.0R. Hmm..now I finally got my 
freebsd back to work :)
