Lines: 19 Message-ID: <3rhlma$hkv@gosset.maths.tcd.ie> NNTP-Posting-Host: gosset.maths.tcd.ie We're looking at obtaining a number of well configured Pentium boxes to run FreeBSD. I've followed the discussion about PCI systems for a while and it would seem that it is pretty easy to get burned and obtain a system that doesn't work well (particularly if I want to put a number of PCI cards into the machine, like 1 ether; 1 video; 2 SCSI). Much of the discussion seems to have been about exactly which motherboards are best. However, since I'm in Ireland I can't just go down to Fry's and pick up a PC a part at a time. Most of the suppliers here supply complete systems. [And the best prices come from the large suppliers who manufacture in Ireland (Gateway and Dell, primarily), though we can usually source other major types.] Has anyone any positive (or negative) advice or experience with the major systems? -- Alan Judge Magic! Everything should be built top-down, except the first time. -- Alan Perlis
