We are an ISP in New England.. We have 3 Boxes spinning 1.2.9 Linux.. and all the toys.. We have a DEC Alpha.. OSF We also have BSDI patched to the MAX, and we like it, BUT BSDI is LAME on support, and although it is "mature", the authors are riding the BSD crest.. We bought BSDI on the facts outlined in you r post, but, we have found the backup lacking.. I will suport BSDI as an Internet Server, does it well, and will continue to..
