I have a better idea. Don't use IDE at all. Stick to SCSI. IDE is a kludge
of the highest order, and things like LBA (and a variety of other incompatible
mappings that controllers have used in the past) are just patches on the side
of the kludge.

SCSI just uses sector numbers. Much more logical. And SCSI supports real tape
and more and better CDROMs and all sorts of interesting devices that IDE
and other ST506 derivitives can't manage.
