I don't think it's really all that necessary. 99% of the changes made between ALPHA and RELEASE (no BETA, sorry) were made to the installation program, and if you've got that already then there's not a lot of sense in "upgrading". That said, there were a couple of kernel fixes made that are pretty important, so you might consider just fetching over the bindist and extracting the kernel.GENERIC for running. If you're a source kinda guy then Poul-Henning has also made CTM diffs available on ref.tfs.com, so you can build a kernel with these changes yourself. Jordan
