I will try the advice I've received so far on PPP as soon as I get a chance to test it. The X-Windows question I have now is, why with my PS/2 mouse set up to use the PS/2 protocol on /dev/psm0 do I not get the control menus that let me set font size, etc? I tried all of the shift, control, and all buttons combined with the button clicks and none of them work since I went to 2.0.5 and the version of XFree86 that comes with it. The answers to my questions were (in case anyone else is interested): the Virtual setting in /etc/XF86config (this was not found because I used find /usr/X11R6/lib/X11 -name * -exec grep -i size {}; and the file I needed was in /etc - a new change I hadn't noticed yet :) The other one (csh) was because of a setenv SHELL /bin/csh line in my .login file (as was automatically added by the system when I set up that user). Although I've not had a chance to try this one yet, it sounds like that was the problem based on several responses.
