If you've got an ISA busmastering DMA controller (e.g. an intelligent
SCSI controller), limit yourself to 16 MB.  The additional 2 MB won't
gain you very much, but will require the use of bounce buffers (since
the ISA bus can only address 16 MB).

Sorry, i cannot answer your question to the cache with profound
knowledge, but i would suspect that an upgrade from 6 to 16 MB will be
a gain in any case.
