It works perfectly except for the following 2 problems: 1. when the user logs out, the pppd does not exit. pppd will run for hours and hours (basically until I kill it off) without recognizing the user has left. This leaves the port in a not very good state for the next user. I tried adding stty -clocal hupcl before starting pppd but it didn't help. 2. the 'proxyarp' command line option does not add the remote host to the arp table. The tun-based ppp would not proxy arp either but did do the hangup properly. The problem with the tun-based ppp is that users get dumped a few minutes after connection. I much prefer the way pppd works so I would appreciate it if someone could help me get pppd to work properly. Thanks very much.
