We, too, are now using a used 1742A, bought for the outrageous price of C$100 (US$70), and it works well. However, 99.8% of all new Pentium motherboards are PCI-based, and the 1742 just doesn't want to fit nicely into a PCI slot. :( While I, too, would prefer source code drivers, that didn't stop me from using the object-only Digiboard driver -- nor does it stop us from using other OSs (such as Windows NT) which *never* include source of any kind. So, in conclusion, a binary-only 2740/2840/2940 driver would be far preferable to no driver at all -- at least in my opinion. -- [ /tom haapanen -- tomh@metrics.com -- software metrics inc -- waterloo, ont ] [ "man, if you gotta ask you'll never know." -- louis armstrong ]
