No.  W. Richard Stevens for "Unix Network Programming", "Advanced Programming
in the Unix Environment" fame.  These TCP/IP books, one could say, "compete"
with Comer & Stevens "Internetworking with TCP/IP" series.  I have both, and
prefer the flavor I originally asked about.  It took just seconds to find an OS
on which to play with the sources, since I already owned the CD.

Funny, since the book you assumed I was asking about was not correct, this
info shouldn't be of much help.  However, if you used the code from the 
David Stevens book under FreeBSD "without any significan mods", I may
try it too.  It can't hurt to play with other ways of doing things.  Thanks for
the help, info, time etc.
